Judith Van der Wat, better known by her stage name, Jude Harpstar, is an extraordinary talent reigning from Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to anything musical and whatever she touches, she turns to gold.


Her live performances on her electro/acoustic harps and piano are nothing short of riveting and this is solidified by her having won numerous national and international awards and scholarships. Harpstar has rigorously developed her performance and artistic skills under some of the best artists in the world. Harpstar won full scholarships at the age of 17 to study in the United States for 7 years at places such as Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin Conservatory and California Institute of The Arts. Jude is no stranger when it comes to collaborations with legendary musicians across the globe.


Harpstar (at age 15) was selected to perform at The Eighth World Harp Congress in Geneva, Switzerland. Her talent has taken her all over the world, performing in festivals such as The Young Euro Classic Festival in Germany, Carinthischer Sommer Festival - Kongresshaus Villach, Austria, The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival with Grammy Award-winning Jazz vocalist Gregory Porter, Joy of Jazz and Macufe Festival with legendary Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Sufi Music Festival with legendary Sibongile Khumalo and Splashy Fen Music Festival and Fête de la Musique with her award-winning duo Lu Flur, to name a few.


Harpstar, with her unconventional funky look, absolutely loves dressing for the occasion and will customize her outfit for your event. When performing for weddings and other formal occasions, she always wears breathtaking gowns that suit the event’s color scheme.


Jude is classically trained and also a master at improvisation, making her a one-of-a-kind, invaluable asset to any show. She can play any style of music, produce and compose in any style and blend in with any band, singer or DJ.
